Mark ventured down to Phillip island for the labour day long weekend. Hoping to sneak in a fish Mark packed light only taking his ultra light spinning rod and a packet of soft plastics. On Monday morning he ventured out to Ryhll pier with his brother. Mark was using the Savage Gear fathead curl tails in purple haze on a 1/8 size 1 jig head. Mark fished the morning and landed a couple of legal size flathead, so did his brother. Then before leaving Mark cast out and finally got a huge strike slow roiling the soft plastic. After a intense battle with his ultralight rod Mark landed his PB 58cm flathead. Which is an amazing effort for any land based angler, especially around the structure of piers.
